IT Olympiad 2021 has been successfully concluded for the first time in Nepal. Aadim National College and Code for Change came together to make this mega IT program possible. The program was organized paying special attention to the innovation of technology and for the empowerment of the youth in technology.
This year IT Olympiad happened in the modality of local level and national level competition. Secondary schools of different cities in the country had their students participate in the competition. Representing one school from each province, the students of the best seven schools competed at the national level. The program was conducted in 7 states, out of which 10/10 schools from 6 states competed in attendance, while in State No. 3, 20 schools competed at the state level.
The main objective of the event was to equip students with the right knowledge on Information Technology which enables them to bridge the gap of society with the correct use of I.T. as the most powerful tool of this century. The organizers said that they have made a great contribution to the technological leap of the country by involving their students in the use and development of technology.
Considering the current pandemic situation, the program was organized virtually running from Chaitra 7, 2076 to Bhadra 19, 2078. In the competition, Moonlight Academy of Province No. 2 came first, Apex School of Lumbini Province came second and Little Buddha Academy of Far Western Province came third respectively.
Former Minister for Science and Technology Ganesh Shah was present as the chief guest at the event which was started with the objective of making a leap in technology by helping to make the education system measured by examinations more experimental and useful. Prof. Dr. Tribhuvan University Institute of Engineering. Suvarna Shakya was also present as the special guest. The event was presided over by Shankar Prasad Sharma, President of IT Olympiad Nepal.
This year, AADIM College and Code for Change organized and concluded IT Olympiad 2021 with IME Pay as the Payment Partner, Nepal Telecom as the communication partner, CAN Federation as the Collaborative Partner, YOHO TV HD as the Television Partner, Shilapatra as the Online Media Partner, Center for Cyber Security Research and Innovation as the Research Partner, npCert as the Community Partner and Voice of Students (VOS) as the platform partner.
About IT Olympiad
IT Olympiad, organized by AADIM College, co-organized by Code for Change, is the first and biggest I.T. Olympiad contest in Nepal. It is an event on I.T. (Information Technology) which covers topics from basic concepts in I.T. to the latest innovations. It is a dynamic event in which students who are highly interested in I.T. can learn new concepts, discover new ideas, and garner knowledge in the domain of technology.
The organizers claim that this event helps students boost their interest and confidence in technology and help them shape their future in this exciting field. This event is a non-commercial, sponsor-funded, and unbiased common ground for those students to encourage them towards pursuing information technology as a subject for higher studies and prospect for future careers.
