Overview
Design & Display
The phone is made up of plastic on the back and side. There is no mention of which type of glass they used in the front but certainly not Gorilla Glass. The phone looks like cheaper OnePlus Nord from the back. It weighs lighter than Nord with 170g weight. The phone feels slim too with just 7.9mm thickness, thanks to its relatively smaller battery than most mid-range phones these days.
The display is “almost” similar to its bigger brother. It features 6.43″ FHD+ 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display. While Nord had HDR10 support, this one doesn’t. The screen features ambient display, dark mode and reading mode as well.
Performance & Camera
The performance is more or less the same as Nord, both having some pros and cons. It has got Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G chip-set. This processor has higher CPU performance than 765G but it is built on 8nm instead of 7nm process. Hence, it is not as efficient as 765G. But, for the price to performance ratio, this CPU is the best 5G chip-set you can get from Qualcomm. It has Adreno 619 GPU. In terms of RAM/ROM config, 6GB/8GB/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB/256GB of slower UFS 2.1 storage. I mean, common OnePlus. At least UFS 2.2 would have been great, if not 3.0.
As for cameras, it has triple camera setup on the back. The main sensor is a 64MP, f/1.79 lens. It misses out the Sony sensor and OIS as well. So there are some trade-offs on this device to be more affordable. Other lenses are 8MP ultra-wide camera and 2MP mono lens. For selfie, it has 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor.
Other Features
One of the USP of the phone is its software. OnePlus has been known for its stock-like experience and handful of customization in the UI. The phone features Oxygen OS based on Android 11. It has a battery of 4500mAh capacity with Warp Charge 30T support. It does brings back everyone’s favorite 3.5mm headphone jack as well. The fingerprint scanner is located under the display. The color option on the phone are Blue Void, Charcoal Ink and Silver Ray.
