Microsoft teams is getting a Walkie Talkie feature soon

Microsoft Teams, the team collaboration app from Microsoft, is getting a new update soon. The latest in these additions will be a feature that transforms your smartphone into a walkie-talkie. It will allow you to communicate with colleagues through your phone as if you had an actual walkie-talkie in your hand. Also, it will let you transmit messages to other users on teams.

The Walkie Talkie feature in Microsoft Teams is set to bridge the gap between Teams and other popular cross-platform mobile apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, and WeChat. Microsoft is making Teams available on iOS and Android. It will work in both cellular and wireless connection to help reduce the number of devices employees must carry, and lowers costs for IT customers. Microsoft will no longer have to worry about crosstalk or eavesdropping from outsiders. According to our sources, the new feature will be built natively into Teams. Your individual devices won’t have to support walkie-talkie functionality themselves as the feature will come in built in on the Microsoft team’s latest version.

MS Teams Walkie-Talkie Integration

The integration will work with any phone be it iOS, Android, or Windows. Teams will detect a particular phone and assign it a unique IP address to use for communication. The IP will be sent over to the teams’ server which will create a secure communication link between sets of various IP addresses and seamlessly act as an actual walkie-talkie. Microsoft is said to be adding another feature that will allow built-in calls through these phones, as well. Wireless calls via Microsoft Teams will launch starting next month.

Two-way radios have become the go-to devices for frontline workers in any industry. Samsung’s ongoing efforts to build durable yet portable devices designed to help such workers have led to the creation of the Samsung Team Walkie Talkie. And now Microsoft Teams will also be integrating a Walkie Talkie. The two companies are highlighting how this collaboration will make it possible for users to talk hands-free and access apps right from a convenient chat interface – no matter where they are or what they’re doing. Users will no longer be limited by line of sight like they used to.
