Honor 20 Lite is the budget version of Honor 20. It can be purchased at around a price of Rs. 32500 in Nepal. Not expanding the budget to buy the flagship phones doesn’t limit the options of good smartphones that can be purchased but comparison needs to be done, to know if the compromises made are ideal. There are various alternatives that can be found at the same price and in accordance with the suitability of a product it can be purchased.

Design:
The Honor 20 Lite comes in 3 stunning colors Phantom Blue, Phantom Red and Midnight Black. This phone has a screen size of 6.21 inch with a dewdrop size notch on top of the screen. One factor a person who prefers a glass back screen might dislike is the fact that this phone has a plastic back. It has a triple setup rear camera which can give this phone a pricey look.
As there is a trend of many companies removing the headphone jack this phone has a 3.55mm headphone jack so that means there won’t be a necessity of buying wireless headphones or adaptors. The charging socket is a micro USB in comparison to other phone options at the same price has a USB-C.
Software and Performance:
Honor 20 Lite is powered by a 2.2GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 710 processor. It runs Android 9.0 Pie with Magic UI which is to some extent the same as the EMUI used in Huawei phones and its subsidiary that is the HONOR series. The HiSilicon 710 processor is an alternative to Snapdragon 660.
Now, for the gamers, this phone wouldn’t be a preferable choice because of how heavy games function on this phone. Games like PUBG only run at medium settings. Heavy games don’t really function well so people who love playing games can pick Pocofone F1 which has the Snapdragon 845.
It has some unwanted apps in it and there are two extra stores, the Huawei AppGallery, which is like the Google Play and the Honor Store.
The fingerprint sensor is fast, reliable and it works effectively and the face unlock also does a good job that is fast face unlock.

Camera:
This phone has a triple setup of the rear camera each of those have 24 MP primary, 2MP depth sensor, 8MP ultra-wide-angle. It packs detailed images and has been said to give out beautiful shots. It reacts quickly and even the indoor shots look fairly clear with a good level of contrast. The higher megapixels don’t necessarily give out the best shots because the lens and better sensor should also be considered.
The wide-angle has a 120-degree angle view, details aren’t that good. Taking wide-angle pictures in low light shouldn’t be considered because the images captured don’t look up to par regardless, in good lighting good shots of huge buildings or so can be taken.
The night mode is good. It has a shutter speed of 4 seconds. This feature helps take good shots in low light; it brightens the picture giving clearer shots.
The selfie camera, which is 32MP, is absolutely amazing. The photos taken by it packs many details and gives beautiful shots. It has features like the portrait mode, slow motion, time-lapse, aperture mode.
The Video option is a full 4K resolution full 1080p, 60 frames per second max.
Screen:
The Honor 20 Lite comes with a 6.21-inch Dewdrop touchscreen display. It has an LCD screen but phones nowadays have an OLED screen. It has a resolution of 1080×2340 pixels at a pixel density of 415 pixels per inch (PPI) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. YouTube videos in Honor 20 Lite can be viewed up to 1080p.
Battery Life:
The Honor 20 Lite is powered by 3400mAh battery which comes with a 10watt charger. It can last for a good number of hours considering the usage. Heavy usage can get the battery to last up to 5-6 hours. An hour of watching YouTube videos at 50% brightness takes 10% off the charge level. It takes 1 hour 56 minutes to get fully charged.
Pass or buy?
Honor 20 Lite is a sleek phone to buy in such price range with those 3 stunning colors. The triple camera giving it a pricey look but the plastic back is questionable. The 128 GB storage which is a massive advantage coming in such price range. Selfies come out amazing.
But by taking in the reference of the design, camera, battery life, the screen is an average phone for the price range. There are compromises that need to be made in terms of the photo quality that is the photos taken by the rear camera, for gamers this wouldn’t be an option to be inclined towards as the gaming experience will not be as amazing so other options can be preferred. The micro USB isn’t preferred for a phone which falls under this range at least a USB-C is expected.
A good screen for the viewing experience, long-lasting battery, a very good camera which is essential for anyone in this generation. This phone ticks a few boxes but few compromises to make could be a bit too much for some people or a gamer. So in accordance with the suitability, this phone is recommended.
