Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the most exciting and rapidly evolving fields of technology today. It has the potential to transform various sectors and industries, from healthcare to finance, from education to entertainment. However, to harness the power of AI, we need skilled and qualified professionals who can design, develop, and deploy AI solutions.
The British College (TBC) has launched a new BSc (Hons) Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) programme, in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE), UK. This programme is the first of its kind in Nepal and aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experience to pursue a successful in the fast-growing field of AI.
The programme was officially launched on the 19th of January 2024, at the Yak and Yeti Hotel, in association with FinTech Alliance Nepal, a network of fintech companies and stakeholders. The event was attended by industry professionals and distinguished guests, including the British Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Rob Fenn, who was the chief guest.
The event also featured a panel discussion on the world of digital wallets, where experts from leading digital wallet platforms – Esewa, Khalti, and Imepay – shared their insights and experiences on how AI is transforming the digital payment landscape. The panelists highlighted the benefits and challenges of using AI for fraud detection, customer service, personalization, and security.
The President of FinTech Alliance, Sanjib Subba, thanked TBC for offering internationally recognised UK programmes that are transforming the field of IT in Nepal. He said, “AI is the key to unlocking the full potential of digital wallets and creating a more inclusive and efficient financial system. We are glad to partner with TBC, which is leading the way in AI education and preparing the next generation of AI professionals.”
The Deputy Principal of TBC, Dr Patrick McCrudden, said, “As a College, we have always focused on shaping new talents for a better future. So, as industries across the globe embrace AI platforms, this programme will address the pressing need for skilled professionals and prepare students to lead the charge in the fourth industrial revolution.”
