With Realme entering into the AIoT market, we saw the launch of Realme watch a while ago in Nepal. Now, Realme Watch S has been launched which is the second smartwatch from the company. Let us see if it is an upgrade over the previous one along with its pricing and availability.
Realme Watch S Overview
Display and Design
Unlike Realme watch, Realme watch OS has a circular 1.3-inch display with a resolution of 360×360 pixels (~278ppi density) and very thin bezels. But, the display is still LCD. Anyway, AMOLED panel at this price range is not to be expected in a smartwatch yet. The glass protection hasn’t been specified by the company but it is highly likely Corning Gorilla Glass 3, as it is commonly used in this price bracket. The watch has a photosensitive sensor for Auto-Brightness adjustment.
What wraps this circular display is an aluminum alloy case with plastic back. The watch case has two buttons on the right side. Similarly, the strap is silicone and is available in four color options: Orange, Blue, Green and Black. Like Realme watch, this one is also IP68 rated making it suitable even during swimming up to a certain depth.
Features
Let us start with connectivity. The watch connects via Bluetooth 5.0 using Realme link app on Android 5.0 or higher. Sadly, there is no iOS support and in-built GPS.
Starting with the visual appearance, you get over 100 watch faces to choose from. For fitness tracking, the watch has four sensors i.e. 3-axis accelerometer, wearing monitoring sensor, optical heart-rate sensor and SpO2 sensor. The heart-rate sensor supports real-time monitoring and alerts during rest or spikes in heavy work/exercise. SpO2 sensor calculates Blood Oxygen level.
Moving on, there are 16 sport modes to choose from which include Outdoor Run, Walk, Indoor Run, Outdoor Cycle, Aerobic Capacity, Strength Training, Football, Basketball, Ping-pong, Badminton, Indoor Cycle, Elliptical, Yoga, Rowing Machine, and Stationary Bike. There is no auto-workout detection so you will have to manually select the mode. Also, even with IP68 certification there is no swimming tracking. Other health features range from sleep tracking, meditation, steps counter, idle alert to activity tracking. Use Realme Link app to make the best use out of all these features as it displays more information.
Other useful features are: Find My Watch, weather forecast, shake adjustment, Do not disturb mode, music playback of connected device via the watch, reminder for calls/alarms/messages, remote shutter to take pictures, lift screen to wake up, wear monitoring and much more.
Battery
Realme Watch S has a claimed battery life of 15 days due to its 390mAh battery. We will need to review it to find out if it is true. You can charge the watch via its magnetic base.

Conclusion
There seems to be improvements like 2 new sport modes, double the battery life and auto-brightness adjustment over its predecessor i.e. Realme watch. SpO2 sensor at this price is also a good catch. The watch made its debut in Pakistan with a price tag of 14,999 PKR (~ INR 6,999). Thus, the pricing seems pretty good in Nepal. Let’s us wait and see its launch on December 23 in India to better compare the pricing.
