OnePlus has just announced its brand new phone “THE ONEPLUS NORD”. OnePlus had shifted to the higher price segment market with the recent releases of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro. This put a lot of people off but OnePlus is back with a whole new product line called the Nord. This lineup will focus more on the mid-range price bracket with powerful phones which first brought OnePlus to the limelight. OnePlus also said in the announcement of the Nord that it will soon add more phones to this lineup which is quite exciting.
OnePlus Nord: First Impressions
The OnePlus Nord doesn’t go all-in on just one spec; rather the phone has distributed a well-rounded value throughout the phone’s spec sheet. It means that OnePlus has focused on providing a complete package to its users. Rather than just giving one high-end spec like having the best camera and neglecting the other specs like the performance; OnePlus has made an overall strong phone.
Design and Display
The OnePlus Nord flaunts a 6.44-inch Full HD+ display complemented with a 90 Hz refresh rate. The design of the phone seems well built too and although it may not seem a lot fancy it has the classic OnePlus feel to it. There is an on-screen built-in Fingerprint Scanner which OnePlus has bettered with its past phones. The phone has an almost edge to edge display with just slight bezels in the surroundings. There is a punch-hole cutout at the top left of the display for the dual selfie camera which looks fairly unbothered to the display.
Performance and Battery
OnePlus usually doesn’t compromise when it comes to performance and it has made no compromises here as well. The Nord is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765G chipset and comes in three variants 6GB/64GB, 8GB/128GB, and 12GB/256GB. So, there’s plenty of storage and RAM for you to play around with. The phone runs on Android 10 with Oneplus’ Oxygen OS 10.5. OnePlus also has kept the stock android user interface that users love about their phones.
One of the main selling points of OnePlus over these years has been its formidable battery power and fast charging. The Oneplus Nord is backed up by a decent 4,115 mAh battery which is complemented by Warp Charge 30. It can get the phone from 0% to 70% in just 30 minutes. However, you should note that there is no wireless charging. That’s not really that big of a let-off though considering they had to cut down some features for reduced pricing.
Camera
With all these other premium-like features, you might be thinking that the camera isn’t up to the mark as most of the mid-range phones but that’s not the case with the OnePlus Nord. The OnePlus Nord has a quad-camera setup with a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor main camera accompanied by a 5MP depth sensor, 2MP macro lens, and 8MP ultra-wide lens. Looking at this setup and how OnePlus has been calling this as its flagship-level camera, we can expect high-quality photos. For selfies, the OnePlus Nord has a main 32MP, f/2.45 camera complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide-camera. So, your selfies and groupies should come out just as extravagant as well.
