OnePlus 9 has officially been launched in Nepal by Smart Talk Pvt. Ltd, one of the official distributor of OnePlus devices here in Nepal. The phone is all set to compete with top of the line phones from Samsung and iPhones launched this year. Despite being quite late for Nepal launch, it carries incredible blend of specs, quality and value for money. So, let’s dive right into this overview of OnePlus 9 with full specifications and price in Nepal.
Overview
Design & Display
The first thing you will notice making it different from 8T is that bigger camera module and much bigger lenses. There is Gorilla Glass 5, and not 6, protecting the front and the back of the phone. However, the frame is made up of “plastic”, unlike the pro version. The back glass has got OnePlus logo and camera module has Hasselblad branding.
Talking about the display, there is 6.55″ FHD+ 120Hz Fluid AMOLED flat display with HDR10+ support. Yes, there is no QHD+ resolution as we’ll get on the pro variant. And also, the display isn’t adaptive as on its bigger brother. So, you are getting a bit of disadvantage over pro version. Nonetheless, the display is rich in colors that gets bright even during direct sunlight on it, as we’ve seen on previous OnePlus devices.
Cameras
There are some good news, and some bad news on camera department. Let’s talk about the former one. We’ll get a triple camera setup on the back, optimized by Hasselblad. There is a 48MP Sony IMX689, f/1.8 aperture, a whooping 50MP IMX766 ultra-wide sensor and a 2MP monochrome lens. This year, you can record 8K videos at 30fps with the device.
The bad news is that OnePlus has ditched OIS for the main sensor, which is really disappointing considering the fact that even OnePlus 9R that costs less has it. The inclusion of a 2MP monochrome lens should not make any significant difference, meaning it’s just number game from the company. They have mentioned nothing except the megapixel count on their official website too.
For the front camera, the phone has a 16MP, f/2.4, Sony IMX471 sensor placed at the upper-left corner of the screen.
Performance
In terms of performance though, there is no compromise on the device. We’ll get top notch Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, which is the most powerful non-apple CPU right now for smartphones. It has X60 5G modem with octa-core (1×2.84 GHz Kryo 680 & 3×2.42 GHz Kryo 680 & 4×1.80 GHz Kryo 680) configuration. There is Adreno 660 as GPU.
There is 12GB LPDDR5 RAM variant currently in Nepal with 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. However, you cannot expand the storage option with SD card.
Other Features
The battery here is of 4,500mAh capacity, along with 65W Warp Charge 65T support. The battery is divided into two parts of 2,250mAh each, meaning charging speed should be quite impressive, 29 minutes to be fully charged as the company claims. There is no official IP-rating on the device. We will get 15W wireless charging support on the device. The fingerprint scanner used here is under-display type. It supports dual stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos support as well. There is no headphone jack on the phone.
