Ncell Rolls Out HD Voice Call Service; VoLTE (Voice Over LTE) in Nepal

Ncell Axiata has finally rolled out the VoLTE service in Nepal. This service would allow the subscribers to experience HD Quality voice calls within its network. By activating and subscribing for Ncell VoLTE, one can enjoy free 100mins of Ncell-Ncell talk-time valid for 28 days.

What is VoLTE and Why Shall One Use it?

VoLTE stands for Voice over Long-Term Evolution. It is an advanced and high speed wireless communication technology that provides better service like Full-HD voice quality unlike 3G and 2G networks.

VoLTE is different than the traditional wireless voice network in the sense that one can browse the internet and use data-driven apps at 4G speeds while being on a call. Moreover, following are the benefits of VoLTE:

  • Better quality HD calls with another VoLTE-enabled device
  • Simultaneous 4G ‘data and voice’ sessions
  • User won’t face fallback to 3G while using 4G data and voice calls.

Who Can Use VoLTE Service?

To use VoLTE service, you must do things mentioned below:

  • First of all, you must have an eligible device that supports VoLTE.
  • You must have done the firmware upgrade.
  • You must be using a USIM.
  • You must be using 4G network.
  • You must have turned on and activated VoLTE/4G via *17201#.

How to Activate Ncell VoLTE Service?

For using this service, one has to activate it through the code *17201#. For activating the service you have to open ‘Phone’ app in you device, simply type *17201# and press the call button.

Ncell VoLTE Eligible Devices

In the present context, Ncell has as many as 16.3 Million customers. Needless to say they use hundreds of different mobile brands. Ncell is preparing to add more devices to the list of eligible devices. But, for now following devices are eligible for the VoLTE service.

  • Samsung – Galaxy A51, Galaxy A33, Galaxy A53
  • Vivo – Y55
  • Huawei – Nova 3i, Y9 Prime 2019

4G Service of Ncell and How to Activate it?

Ever since 1st June 2017, Ncell has been providing it’s 4G services. Initially, it provided 4G service from Kathmandu valley, Nagarkot and Dhulikhel. But till this day its service has expanded to 21 cities that includes over 1000 locations across the country covering around 15% of the total population.

4G compatibles sim is called USIM. 4G or 4th generation of cellular communications offers speed 10 times faster than the 3rd Generation (3G).

To activate 4G in Ncell, you need to check if your SIM supports 4G or not mu messaging to 324. If your SIM is confirmed to be compatible, check if your device is compatible or not. Then put your phone in the 4G preferred mode in settings, mobile network and dial *324#.
