Xiaomi has launched Mi Notebook 14 (IC) in India, which is a slightly improved version of previous year’s Notebook 14. The laptop is slim and lightweight, ideal for students where portability matters the most. Last year, the same machine was launched by the company without a web camera which was a dumb move from the company. Correcting it, the current version supports a web camera suitable for online study and work from home these days. So, let’s take at a quick look at the laptop with specs and expected price in Nepal.
Mi Notebook 14 Overview
The design hasn’t changed since last year. The aluminum-magnesium alloy design of the device ensures sturdy build. It is light weight laptop with 18mm thickness and 1.5 Kg weight. The display is of 14″ anti-glare with FHD resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. The display isn’t great for content creators, but gets it’s job done while media consumption and web-surfing.
On the performance side, it’s got Intel Core i5 10210U Comet Lake processor with Intel UHD 620 graphics. The most expensive variant comes with dedicated Nvidia MX250 graphics card. The base variant comes with 8GB of RAM with 256GB of SATA 3 SSD. The storage option goes all the way up to 512GB of storage.
The ports consists of 2 x Type-A USB 3.1 Gen 1, a USB 2.0, an HDMI, 1 x Audio Jack and a charging port. The keyboard keys have scissors design with rather shallow 1.3mm key travel distance. The keyboard doesn’t consist of numpad. 1.3mm key travel distance means there will be no tactile feedback and typing for longer will not be so easy on it. The touchpad on the laptop is large with multi-gesture support. There is 2 X 2W speakers with DTS audio support.
Mi Notebook 14 has 46Wh battery with 65W power adapter in the box. It is supposed to last 10 hours on light usage like browsing through internet and social media. It has Mi Blaze Unlock and Mi Smart Share to share your files between Xiaomi devices. The in-built web camera is a welcome feature from the company that was missing on previous versions, which has been a must considering today’s situation.
