The LibreOffice Nepali Community, a group of volunteers who are passionate about open-source software, is organizing a LibreOffice Localization Sprint 2023 from October 11. The event aims to translate the LibreOffice software, a powerful and free alternative to Microsoft Office, into the Nepali language and make it more accessible to Nepali users.
Do you also want to contribute to the open-source movement and make a difference in your local community? Then it’s an interesting opportunity for you.
What is LibreOffice?
LibreOffice is a powerful office suite that offers a strong alternative to Microsoft Office. It has a stack of office applications that includes word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, drawing, database, and math tools. It was developed by The Document Foundation (the non-profit entity behind the LibreOffice project). LibreOffice is compatible with all major operating systems, such as Windows, macOS, BSD, and Linux.
The LibreOffice Localization Sprint 2023 is a collaborative event where volunteers from different communities, universities, and organizations come together to work on translating the user interfaces, help documentation, and other important resources related to LibreOffice. The event is being conducted with support from major communities in Nepal, including Ask Buddie, Birendra Open Source Club (BOSC), Kathmandu University Open Source Community (KUOSC) and Nepal Open Source Klub (NOSK).
The event will be conducted online so that more open-source enthusiasts and tech students across the nation can easily participate. The organizers have also included exciting gifts for the winners from each community.
