Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) launched its 3.9 update with a splash. Players welcomed hoverboards, neon zones, and a flashy Transformers crossover. These features brought excitement and fresh visuals to the game.
Yet beneath the surface, core gameplay issues remain unresolved. Longtime players are growing frustrated. Lag, poor optimization, and matchmaking imbalances continue to disrupt the experience.
Krafton focuses heavily on new skins and limited-time events. But it often ignores the foundational problems that affect daily gameplay. For a game with such a massive Indian audience, this imbalance is hard to overlook.
These aren’t minor bugs. They signal a deeper issue: the game is losing touch with what made it enjoyable in the first place.
Every Update Breaks the Game
Major updates in BGMI have become a double-edged sword. While they bring new content, they also introduce serious technical problems.
The 3.9 update is no exception. Players report frequent crashes, sudden frame drops, and a persistent mic echo bug. Squad communication has become nearly impossible in many matches.
You’d expect better from a game with over 100 million downloads. Beta testing should catch these issues before public release. Yet players are forced to reinstall the app or downgrade graphics just to play smoothly.
This pattern repeats with every major patch. New content rolls out fast. But system stability takes a backseat. Only when complaints flood Reddit and YouTube does Krafton respond.
Fixes arrive weeks later. By then, trust has already been damaged. The real problem isn’t a single bug it’s the update strategy itself.

Voice Chat Remains a Nightmare
Voice chat is essential in a team-based battle royale. Yet BGMI’s voice system is still broken. Echoes and mic glitches have plagued the game since at least version 3.6.
Without earphones, squad members hear voices twice. This ruins coordination and breaks immersion. Even with wired or Bluetooth headphones, iPhone users face loud static or high-pitched hissing.
Some describe the sound as a “tornado” blasting through their headsets. These issues make teamwork difficult, especially in ranked matches.
Players have reported these bugs since early 2023. Krafton has not delivered a permanent fix. In a game where communication wins matches, this is unacceptable.
It’s more than an annoyance. For many, it’s a dealbreaker.
BGMI maps Are Stuck in a Rut
Krafton keeps favoring Erangel for major events. The 3.9 update added Transformers characters like Optimus Prime and Megatron only to Erangel.
Other popular maps like Livik were left out of the main crossover. Livik did get hoverboards and neon zones. But it missed the core event experience.
Livik has a large, active player base. Fans love its fast pace and shorter match times. Ignoring it for big updates feels like a missed opportunity.
Karakin, known for intense close-quarters combat, has also been neglected. It hasn’t seen meaningful updates or event integration in recent patches.
Players still enjoy Karakin. A dedicated event or optimized mode could breathe new life into classic matches.
By focusing too much on Erangel, Krafton limits variety. It fails to reflect how players actually use the game.
Cheating Still Plagues Ranked Play in BGMI
Krafton regularly posts ban lists and “Ban Pan” animations. These show thousands of accounts being suspended. But cheating remains widespread.
In high-tier ranked lobbies, players face speed hacks, radar cheats, and aimbots. Some get sniped through walls by cheaters using third-party tools.
Honest players grind for hours to improve. They deserve fair matches. But current anti-cheat measures aren’t enough.
Cheaters evolve faster than detection systems. Krafton needs smarter enforcement. It must prevent cheating before it happens.
Whack-a-mole bans aren’t working. A stronger, proactive system is long overdue.
Time for Krafton to Prioritize the Basics
BGMI still has huge potential. It can be the best battle royale experience for Indian gamers. But that future depends on fixing core issues.
New cosmetics and events are fun. But they mean little if the fundamentals are broken. Players need working voice chat and smoother performance on mid-range devices.
Matchmaking should be balanced. Maps should receive fair attention. Updates must not break the game.
Krafton must shift focus from flash to function. Otherwise, the only thing being optimized is player frustration.
