Instagram has just launched the newest monetization feature i.e. Instagram Subscriptions. Currently, Instagram is testing this new feature with some creators who will be able to set a monthly price of their choice. As this feature rolls out, creators will be able to unlock a “subscribe” button on their profile and offer the benefits like subscriber lives, subscriber stories, and subscriber badges. Instagram introduces paid subscriptions so that creators can earn recurring monthly income using the platform.
Instagram Paid Subscriptions
Previously, Facebook also launched Subscriptions in 2020. It helped creators build sustainable businesses powered by the support of their communities. Based on strong creator feedback, the company is now bringing this business model to creators on Instagram. With Instagram Subscriptions, creators can develop deeper connections with their most engaged followers and grow their recurring monthly income by giving subscribers access to exclusive content and benefits. Now all this is possible within the same platform where they can interact with them.
Features of Instagram Subscriptions
The major features of Instagram subscriptions will be subscriber lives, unlocking subscribe button on creator profile, subscriber stories, and subscriber badges.
- Subscriber Lives: This feature will enable creators to broadcast exclusive Lives to their subscribers.
- Subscriber Stories: By using this feature, creators can create stories just for their subscribers, with exclusive content and use interactive story stickers with their most engaged followers only.
- Subscriber Badges: It will enable creators to easily identify their subscribers as these badges will be visible next to comments and messages.
Why Instagram is rolling out paid subscriptions
Since the official name change of the company from Facebook to Meta, Meta is reportedly trying to enable creators to make a living through its platforms. Just for this, they have built a suite of tools that allow creators and influencers to help them get support from their audience, partner with brands and earn money from advertising or bonuses directly from Instagram and Facebook. In this continuous attempt, Instagram subscription is the latest monetization feature to supports the creators and influencers of the platform.
As exciting as this newest feature sounds, it should be noted that this feature will be available only to a limited number of U.S. creators during the initial test. Instagram is planning to expand access to more creators over the next few months since this feature is still in the beta phase. The US creators who have access to this latest feature on Instagram currently are @alanchikinchow, @sedona._, @alizakelly, @kelseylynncook, @elliottnorris, @jordanchiles, @jackjerry, @bunnymichael, @donalleniii and @lonnieiiv.
