inDrive, which has been promoting its ride-hailing services in Nepal for more than a year has released a media statement clarifying its ongoing legal registration process.
The media statement released on December 21 clearly states that inDrive is in the process to become officially registered in Nepal.
Here is the media statement released by the company as it is:
“We are making our best efforts to be fully legally compliant in the country. inDrive is in the process of getting registration as a legal entity in Nepal in accordance with the Foreign Investment and Technology Transfer Act (FITTA), 2019. We submitted the required Foreign Investment application to the Department of Industry (DOI) on October 17, 2022. However, the registration is taking longer than expected.
Meanwhile, as a company, we do not earn any profit from our activities in the country. We do not take any commission from the drivers. Moreover, inDrive is helping boost the local economy by creating more earning opportunities for local drivers. With inDrive, Nepali drivers get an opportunity to earn money while all Nepali people can save their money on their everyday rides.
And when it comes to safety, is our primary concern at inDrive. inDrive strives to make the service safe for both passengers and drivers. sadly, the taxi business globally can be dangerous, but the basic feature of ride-hailing- e.g., the fact that rides can be tracked and orders can be collected- minimizes certain risks.
The app itself also contains features that promote safety, including a location-sharing feature and an emergency call button that connects directly to the local police. Our drivers have been thoroughly screened and verified by our core team prior to being allowed to provide the service to our passengers. Our support team is available 24/7 to work on queries from our users.”
inDrive’s PR Manager for South Asia had a talk with TechSathi a few months back and she indicated then that the company was in the process to register in Nepal. As a result, inDrive is in the process to operate as a legal entity soon.
The company has not stated why the registration is taking that long. inDrive does not charge a commission to the drivers under its network as of now. After its registration in Nepal, it will receive similar treatment to other businesses here in Nepal.
