Tinder, the social dating app, is adding lots of new features and changing the way how it lets users view their potential dates. The company’s new features include a redesigned home page and swipe gestures which will change the way users access the app. A video on the profile page allows for users to add creative short clips. In the videos, users can explain why they’re right for each other in their profile. This feature could actually help attract partners more than just ghosting. Users will also be able to access explore section which will enable them to know more about their potential match. It shall help users discover people based on their shared interests. And the most important feature ‘Chat before you Match’ is also expected to be launched on Tinder.
Chat before you match – Tinder did it!
The new feature called “Hot Takes” will allow Tinder users chat with each other even before the match. To limit the time frame users chat without officially matching, tinder has introduced a timer feature. Users can mutually decide the timer duration before it runs out. The feature will be available each day from 6 pm to 12 am (midnight) every night. This new feature will be shown as Swipe Night.
Tinder is also adding a new Explore section. This feature will let users discover new people based on shared interests and passion. If some users are interested in soccer or startups, they will be able to discover people who have the same interests and easily match with them. Tinder also announced that both the new features will be integrated into the Explore section after its official launch in the coming weeks. These are not huge changes. But these combinations will make the dating app more competitive against its newer rivals in the online dating and hookup markets.

Most of these features require user testing many of which has already happened and some are about to begin. It could still be a while before we see them on our apps.
