More Powerful S9 SiP
The Apple Watch Ultra 2 is powered by Apple’s new S9 SiP. Offering a 60% faster CPU and 30% faster GPU compared to the previous generation, the S9 promises a performance boost.
The S9 chip also incorporates Apple’s latest quad-core neural engine. This enables faster and more accurate on-device Siri responses and dictation.
Brighter, Sharper Display
Apple outfitted the Ultra 2 with an enhanced display rated for 3000 nits max brightness. This represents a 50% improvement over the screen brightness of the first-generation Ultra.
Apple states it’s the brightest display ever featured on an Apple Watch. The boost in brightness and clarity provides better visibility in harsh lighting.
Improved Endurance and Depth
With new low-power settings, Apple claims the Ultra 2 can achieve up to 72 hours of battery life per charge. This ensures the watch can better keep up with extreme activities and expeditions.
The Ultra 2 is also rated for recreational scuba diving up to depths of 40 meters as well as freediving activities. The updated Depth app logs details from each diving session.
Focus on Sustainability
Apple highlighted the Ultra 2 will use 100% recycled cobalt in its batteries as part of its sustainability initiatives. The company also announced it will cease using leather across Apple Watch bands and other products to lower carbon emissions.
