Nagmani International, the authorized dealer for ASUS laptops in Nepal has launched two powerhouse laptops recently. They are Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE (GX551QS) and Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QS). Both these laptops are powered by the latest and greatest AMD Ryzen 9 5900-HX CPU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU. Though these specs are more than enough to blow your mind, there are some differences between these two laptops. So, let us go through their specs, pricing, and availability one by one.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE (GX551QS) Overview
Display
Like its predecessor and as its name suggests, this laptop’s signature design is dual screens. The 4K secondary touch screen that lies just up the keyboard raises about 13-degrees when the laptop display is lifted. This provides a good viewing angle and also improves the airflow for the laptop. The hinge has been improved so that there is some delay between opening of the main and secondary screen. You can use the secondary screen to browse the web, read emails, chat, stream or record gameplays and much more. Asus has partnered with XSplit Gamecaster and Adobe to improve usage of the secondary screen in their programs.
Enough about the secondary display, the 15.6-inch main display is also a beast here. The panel here is 120Hz 4K UHD anti-glare IPS with 100% RGB color gamut coverage. Both the main and secondary screens have Adaptive-Sync and are PANTONE validated.
Build and Design
Zephyrus Duo 15 SE has a great build and design due to its all-metal chassis, 20.9mm thickness, 2.4kg weight, and the popular Dot Matrix Design with a ROG logo on the lid. Due to the secondary screen, the keyboard is shifted all the way to the edge. So, the laptop is shipped with a palm rest to assist you. With a 1.4mm key travel distance, the full-sized keyboard here has a glowing red Numpad on the right touchpad along with per-key RGB lighting. It is compatible with other Aura Sync devices.
Performance
As I already mentioned before, this laptop has a single variant launched in Nepal right now and is powered by AMD Ryzen 5900HX running at 90W or 50W when the GPU is active. On the GPU side, we have Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 running at 115W on ROG Boost mode or 130W on Dynamic Boost mode. A 16GB memory kit is soldered onto the motherboard while there is a single slot left that comes with a 16GB 3200MHz kit. You can replace it with a 32GB memory kit if you want as 48GB is the max memory supported here. In terms of storage, you get a 1TB PCIe 3.0 SSD from the company itself.
To cool this big chunk of magic, Asus has implemented an improved cooling system (13% improvement company claimed) called Active Aerodynamic System Plus (AAS+) which allows more power without increasing noise levels. The liquid-metal thermal compound used here helps transfer heat using five heat pipes and four heatsinks with increased surface areas as compared to last gen.
Sound
Keeping in mind of us having to live a year virtually, Asus has improved the in-built microphone with two-way noise cancellation feature for clear communication. Dolby Atmos is supported by the upgraded speakers that provide clear and crisp audio. 3-dimensional precision audio from the speakers also helps users to pinpoint the source of in-game sounds.
Connectivity and Battery
The laptop has all the ports you need i.e., two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, one 3.5mm audio combo jack, one HDMI 2.0b port, one RJ-45 ethernet port, and a microSD 4.0 card reader along with a DC-in charging port. In terms of wireless connectivity, the laptop has the latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.
The battery that juices up this beast is a 90Wh battery with 100W fast charging. The company claims that it will charge the laptop from 0 to 50 within 30 minutes which is great to hear.

There are lightbars around the chassis edges, just below the screen and in the ROG logo on the lid which is compliment by ASUS’s trademark Dot Matrix design. These RGBs can be controlled individually via Aura Creator software.
