Samsung’s flagship smartphones always have the best to offer but you have to premium for those. With Xiaomi, Realme and Oneplus bringing flagship performance at nearly half the price of Samsung flagships, Samsung had to launch something to compete with them, right? That’s where the Samsung Galaxy FE (Fan Edition) comes into play. So, let us take a look at Samsung Galaxy FE Price in Nepal, its features, specs, and availability in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy FE Overview

Design and Display

To cut costs, compromises were made in the build quality with glastic (amalgamation of plastic and glass) material on the rear and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. I am okay with the rear material but Gorilla Glass 3 at this price is not a good choice Samsung. The rear camera unit also seems a little bigger as compared to the Samsung S20 lineup which shares the same design like this. There are stereo speakers on the top and bottom with Dolby Atmos Support. The best part here is that the phone comes with an IP68 rating which is mostly neglected on phones of this price range.

Samsung Galaxy FE

The display however where Samsung excels has no compromise. The 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display with HDR10+ support, 120Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate is great. The refresh rate is not variable like on the Note 20 Ultra as expected. Flat-screen, rounded corners with slightly thicker bezels, and a forcibly made visible top mid-punch-hole sums up the front part of the device.

Hardware and Performance

Two versions of this phone are available, 4G LTE version with Exynos 990 chipset and 5G with Snapdragon 865. I don’t think I have to tell you what version we will be getting in Nepal. Powered by Exynos 990 and coupled with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, the phone is indeed of flagship-level but Snapdragon alternatives in Nepal will obviously overpower it.

On the software side, we get the latest One UI 2.5 on top of Android 10 with confirmed updates to Android 11.

Security and Connectivity

The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor seen on Samsung flagships has been replaced with an optical fingerprint sensor which does the job quite well. There is Face Unlock but not secure enough due to the lack of a 3D LIDAR scanner.

In terms of connectivity, the phone has all the latest tech like dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and NFC but no 5G. There is expandable storage of up to 1TB via a shared SIM slot that accepts a microSD card.

Camera

It has the same rear camera setup as seen on the Samsung Galaxy S20 except for the 12MP sensor in exchange for the 64MP telephoto sensor of the S20 leading to the lack of 8K videos here. The triple rear camera setup includes a 12MP main sensor, 12MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide sensor.

On the front, the punch-hole houses a 32MP selfie sensor which seems to be the one seen on the Samsung Galaxy A71. All sensors support videos up to 4K@60 fps.

Battery

The phone runs on a 4500mAh battery with 25W fast wired charging, 15W Qi wireless charging and 4.5 reverse wireless charging support via USB Power Delivery 3.0. Sadly, Samsung only ships a 15W charger in the box.

Samsung Galaxy FE Price in Nepal and Availability

Conclusion

I was highly hoping to get the Snapdragon variant in Nepal as Europe and Australia got it but as you can see ‘Hope is a dangerous thing’. Nonetheless, I can’t wait to review this device and see if the cost cuttings pose any threat to the ‘Flagship killer’ title that this phone is holding onto.
