With an objective to fully digitize Manakamana temple area, NMB Bank and FonePay are collaborating to promote digital payments.
In this regard, NMB Bank is distributing QR Codes which are operated by FonePay to the vendors around Manakamana bazaar area.
On the 16th of December 2022, the Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank Guru Prasad Poudel inaugurated the campaign by donating to the Manakamana Temple through a QR Code. Also, NMB Bank’s CEO Sunil KC and FonePay’s CEO Diwas Sapkota joined the process.
With this, the visitors to the temple can make payments to worshipping elements, fruits, and also to restaurants by scanning a QR Code.
How to make a payment using a QR Code?
Making payments through QR Code takes place through a digital payment system- either a mobile banking system or a digital wallet or other payment systems.
FonePay has been providing QR Code payment services through mobile banking apps of the banks. Hence, the customers of NMB Banks can scan a QR code available at the merchant and make instant payments through their mobile phones.
There are some simple steps to make payments through a QR Code.
- Open your mobile banking app and click on the QR scan option.
- Scan the QR Code and enter the amount to pay.
- Proceed with your transaction PIN and finish the payment.
- You can also finish the payment through your biometric pass using your fingertips.
With this, QR payments are expanding in areas other than urban markets. NMB Bank and FonePay have collaborated to touch digital payments on various aspects like donating to the temple maintenance, shopping for pilgrimage, staying at hotels and lodges, and flooding purposes. This way, digital payments will not be limited to just making mobile top-ups or bank transfers.
