Design & Display

The design of the phone is fresh and trendy, with X pattern on the back. The back almost looks similar to Honor 9X though. On the front, you will get a punch-hole notch, housing the front camera. The phone comes in two color options, Green and White. Green variant looks cool though.

Talking about the display, it has regular 60Hz 6.67 inches FHD+ display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution. There is oleophobic coating on the front to keep away fingerprint smudges as well. On the rectangular camera module, we get quad camera setup with 48MP, f/1.8 primary lens, 5 MP, f/2.2 ultrawide sensor, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. This camera setup looks interesting on paper. But, it will require full testing to give a verdict on camera quality. For selfie, you will get 16 MP, f/2.0 single camera on front.

Micromax IN Note 1 comes with stock Android 10 experience. The company has promised to give 2 years of major software upgrades. Neither you will get any bloatware on the skin, nor there are annoying ads like some Chinese manufacturers out there. It’s good to see small companies emphasizing on software, along with hardware to keep the phone going for the long run.

The battery on the phone is massive 5000mAh battery with 18W type-C fast charging support as well. There is a physical fingerprint scanner at the back for security. However, there is no mention of any water-resistant coating on the device to protect against water splashes and dust.

Micromax IN 1b is a budget oriented device, featuring competitive specs for a device of the price range. The device seems pretty trendy with bright color options. You will get three color options, Green, Blue and Purple.

The device comes with large 6.52″ HD+ display panel (720 x 1600 pixels). It is a regular 60Hz panel with 20:9 aspect ratio. Again, for the price, it is acceptable.

For the performance, we get a budget oriented MediaTek Helio G35 SoC. This is an octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) processor, built at efficient 12nm process. As for battery, we get same 5000mAh battery as Note 1. The inclusion of USB Type-C port for the price is very impressive from the company. However, we get 10W charging on the phone, which is quite slow. Considering price point, we get a physical fingerprint scanner at the back, which companies usually skip for the price.
