The battery life of your smartphone depends on a number of factors. Including, the device and battery type, age and condition of your phone, usage, frequency of charging and charging method. The lifespan of lithium-ion batteries is typically rated in charge cycles, or how many times they can be charged and discharged. A full charge cycle is defined as recharging the battery to 100 percent and discharging it to 0 percent. The number of charge cycles is dependent on the type of battery; some batteries can be charged hundreds or even thousands of times before they need replacing. The more charge cycles a lithium-ion battery has, the longer it will last. Every time you use your device it loses power, even when you’re not charging your phone. However, you can put some efforts to keep your battery healthy. Here’s how-

Keep your battery healthy | With these tips:

1. Clear Background Tasks

When your device is not in use, background tasks such as searching for apps or checking notifications can keep draining power from your battery. Your device also uses power when it’s connected to a charger. Charging your phone overnight using a standard wall outlet can be detrimental to its longevity. If you forget to plug in the charger before bed you’ll likely wake up with a dead battery or one that is too low to be useful. This is because overnight charging doesn’t fully complete the charge cycle that occurs during the day when you are using your phone.

2. Turn off unnecessary services

Another way to reduce power drain from background tasks is by turning off unnecessary services on your device. Apps running in the background can run services that constantly check for updates or execute constant functions without user input. If these services aren’t necessary they should be turned off altogether so they don’t have to constantly check for updates or process data loads from the internet every time your phone checks for them. If this isn’t an option it’s advised that you do not leave these services running while your phone isn’t being used since they still consume energy even when they are not being used by the user at all times. As more applications are installed on our device, more work is put on the battery. And more work means shorter battery life.

3. Take care of the charging habits

Charging habits can have a significant effect on the life of your device’s battery, so be aware of the factors affecting your battery life. It is also important to take care of your phone’s battery to manage it well. Turning off automatic updates is also recommended if you have automatic updates enabled on your smartphone.
