The headset market got a boost with the release of Apple Vision Pro, drawing attention from the masses. This market, which already holds big names like Meta, Vive, and Valve, became more competitive with Apple’s entry. In the middle of this, Li Nan the founder of Numiao Technology, shared interesting remarks about the Huawei Vision AR Headset on their official Weibo accounts.
According to the post, Li Nan stated that Huawei is developing a VR headset with its own chipset, promising impressive performance without any delays in spatial rendering. The headset will boast a Sony 4K micro-OLED display, expected to arrive at Huawei’s manufacturing unit within six months. Interestingly, this display is also used in Apple’s Vision Pro headset.
If the narrative holds true, Huawei’s offering could emerge as a compelling alternative to the Apple Vision Pro in the market. However, it’s expected to come with a price tag of around 15,000 Yuan, roughly equivalent to $2100, albeit likely lower than Apple’s counterpart.
Huawei’s dive into VR isn’t entirely new , given its previous introduction of the Vision Glass featuring a head-mounted display with a 1080P micro-OLED screen in 2021. This recent development aligns with Huawei’s initial initiative, including the registration of the Vision Pro trademark back in 2019. There are even rumors circulating about Huawei’s entry into the Mixed Reality headset arena. We can only wait to find out how much of it is actually real.
Furthermore, Apple might have to reconsider the name “Vision Pro” in China, considering Huawei’s prior trademark registration under the same name in the country. Whatever happens, its a win win for us. We get to see how Huawei makes their AR Headset. I wonder whether it is going to be a threat for the famous Apple Vision Pro and the other AR headsets that already do exist.
