Asus TUF Dash F15 Launched in Nepal: Slim Gaming Laptop With Tiger Lake CPU, RTX 3070 GPU

Unlike traditional gaming laptops that were heavy and had gaming-centric looks, the recent trend is a slim and non-aggressive design that is portable too. Asus particularly has been integrating this design language with the TUF series even in the past. This year, Nagmani International, which is an authorized distributor of Asus laptops, launched the much-awaited Asus TUF Dash F15 in Nepal. The device has the latest 11th gen Intel Tiger Lake CPUs and RTX 30 series graphics in a portable format. Let’s look into the features of TUF Dash F15, full specifications, and price in Nepal.

Overview

Design & Display

The thickness of laptop is 19.9mm, weighing 2Kg. On the lid, we’ll get metal whereas, inside is made up of all plastic. However, it doesn’t feel cheap and should last for years for sure. There is a big TUF branding on the lid along with TUF logo on top-right corner. It would have been nicer if it has no branding and just logo on the lid though. There are two color options,

In terms of display, it is a pretty nice one actually. There are two variants, 15.6″ FHD IPS panel with 144Hz and 240Hz refresh rate. The color range it covers is 100% sRGB along with 75% Adobe color space. The aspect ratio here is 16:9. The display also features adaptive sync.

Performance

Performance has a bit of mixed feelings from us. It is latest 11th gen Tiger Lake CPU from Intel, Core i5 11300H/Si7 11370H that has base clock speed of 3.1GHz(turbo boost 4.4GHz, i5) and 3.3GHz(turbo boost 4.8GHz, i7). On paper, they might seem very capable but, the CPUs are just quad-cores. In another term, they are just overclocked versions of 11th gen G series processor from Intel. The GPU here is Nvidia RTX 3060/3070 and they have 6GB/8GB of GDDR6 VRAM. RTX 3070 draws 80W power and 85W with Dynamic Boost enabled. In terms of gaming, you will not feel behind, but on other tasks like video rendering and tasks that can utilize multi-cores, you will see the difference. For comparison, even AMD’s Ryzen 5 4th gen CPUs have six cores but a gaming laptop with quad-core CPU is a bit outdated now.

In terms of RAM and storage, there is 16GB 3200MHz memory on board. You can upgrade it up to 32GB as there are 2 X SO-DIMM slots for RAM expansion. There is 512GB of NVME PCIe Gen3 SSD. You can expand it via the provided PCIe slot.

Keyboard and Other Features

The keyboard here is neither a full sized nor have magic numpad like other Asus business laptops. But, it is a backlit chiclet keyboard with 1.7mm large travel distance. The transparent WASD keys looks cool though. The battery on the device is 76WHr, which is good but not great as other high end laptops have 90WHr+ batteries. The company claims it can last up to 16.6hrs with low to moderate usage. There is a 200W power adapter for charging.

In terms of I/O ports, it packs 1x 3.5mm Combo Audio Jack, 1x HDMI 2.0b, 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1x RJ45 LAN port, 1x Thunderbolt™ 4 ports. So, there is presence of ample amount of I/O ports. There are 2x 2W speakers with AI noise cancellation feature. We’ll get Wifi-6 and Bluetooth 5.1 for connectivity.
