DC Summit Nepal 2019, the event that was designed to bring in the awareness about Data Center and its need in business perspectives, was held successfully at Soaltee Crown Plaza Hotel, Kathmandu, Nepal on June 27th, 2019. The event was conducted in the presence of OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and Global Associations organized by NDCS (Nepal Data Center Society) and Information Security Response Team Nepal (npCERT) with the association of organizations like Nutanix, Delta, Netzoom, Starline, Huawei, Rosenberger, Arcon, Kaspersky, Vianet, ICT Frame and many more.
DC Summit Nepal is the first ever event organized in Nepal with the motives to secure Data, aware every aspect and Build our own Data Centers in order to scale up Nepal Digitally in this Modern Age. The event took place in the presence of honorable Gokul Prasad Baskota, Minister of Communication and Information Technology of Nepal, as Chief Guest. Data enthusiasts and professionals from several countries around the globe presented their ideas regarding the establishment of Data Centers and the ways of securing Data of the Country.

Event Details
The event started after a formal inauguration, which led to the formal opening ceremony and token of love was provided to Chief Guest. The program started with the welcome speech of Mr. Hemanta Baral, Board Member of Nepal Data Center Society. Mr. Star Shrestha, president of Event and NDCS introduced about NDCS and DC Summit Nepal 2019 and organizing teams delivered speeches regarding the event before Keynote Speaking Sessions.
Ideas and Discussions
During keynote sessions, the presenters presented their insights and ideas regarding Data Centers in Nepal. The talks seemed to be focused more on building better, secure and stable Data Centers by providing informative data, information and content. By taking the base of “evolution of tech and innovation” there were discussions about transforming Automated Data Centers to Autonomous Data Center (Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, DevOps) for simple, secure and better DC. Representative of Nutanix presented his insights on Web-Scale Architecture of Data Center shared ideas about Nutanix.
Deepak Singh Thakur, Head Business – India & SAARC UPS, DC Solution, presented his insight on “Innovative Power Solutions for Critical Data Centers” and talked more about Edge Computing and technologies (IOT, VR/AR Gaming, Autonomous, Smart Home, Smart Factory, AI, ML, Drones) that are driving Global Data centers and also shared that Edge Computing is going to be more relevant in the context of Nepal for better Data Centers. One of the representatives from Huawei shared about how Data Centers are being managed in the company and how their Data Centers are stable and more secure.
Aanand Singh, First Ph.D. holder on Cloud Computing from Nepal, shared the importance of Data Center and Cloud Computing for SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises) in Nepal as the demand of DC is increasing day by day. He also talked about Digital Foundations, availability and demand of DC in Nepal along with Challenges and Opportunities of it. During his presentation, he said, the best Slogan of Nepal “Anyhow Kaam Chalau” won’t fit in this sector due to Risk Factor.
In the same way, representatives from different Data Centers companies around the globe shared their insights on building better Data Centers here in Nepal. If we go towards the implementation of those ideas in building Data Centers, then we are going to have certainly quite better, simple and secure Data Center in the country leading to more opportunities in Nepal.

To conclude, the way Data enthusiasts and experts from different countries presented their insights and ideas regarding Data Centers in Nepal, it was really mind-opening experience. If we can follow all these ideas accordingly, a lot of business opportunities along with huge benefits are sure to boom in our country. Nepal Data Center Society’s (NDCS) and Information Security Response Team Nepal (npCERT) team deserves huge credit for taking such a wonderful initiative.
