Digital Acceleration & Transformation Expo (DATE with Tech) held in Delhi from November 23-24 has cemented India’s position at the forefront of technological advancement. Organized by leading events firm Trescon, the expo welcomed over 7,900 attendees including tech pioneers, industry trailblazers, and key policymakers.
DATE with Tech provided a platform to showcase breakthroughs across 10 high-growth sectors – AI, blockchain, cloud computing, cybersecurity, customer experience, data analytics, entrepreneurship, fintech, gaming, and immersive tech. Speaking at a fireside chat on financial technologies, Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs (GoI) highlighted innovations that are expanding access to credit and banking in India. She admired the rise of digital lending and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which enables seamless QR code payments between bank accounts.
Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman also noted the importance of data protection and privacy in banking, pointing to India’s digital payments data fiduciary legislation. She advocated for digital aggregators to improve financial access by leveraging customer data responsibly under a regulated framework. Additionally, Sitharaman emphasized the need for robust credit ratings to build trust in digital finance ecosystems. Her remarks underscored the government’s commitment to supporting fintech networking and solutions that can bank the unbanked sustainably.
