Realme India has finally launched the much awaited members of Realme’s 7 lineup: Realme 7i and Realme 7 Pro. They are the successors to Realme 6i and 6 pro, which were already great value for money phones at their respective price points. The phones offer some pretty decent specs like the new trendy 90Hz display and super fast 65W charging capability (7 Pro). The 7i brings some major upgrades over it’s predecessor(global variant) while the 7 Pro brings only minor upgrades. So, how well these phone compete against their own devices? Let’s find out in this overview of Realme 7i and 7 Pro with price in Nepal.

Realme 7i Overview

Display & Design

realme 7i price in nepal

Realme 7i is an upgrade over 6i (global variant) in terms of display. Talking about the display, we get a 6.5″ HD+ panel with 90Hz refresh rate. This new higher refresh rate displays are becoming trend in 2020, as the budget phones are offering it as well. The difference between 60Hz and 90Hz is noticeable even for a normal user. It improves overall touch response time and the phone feels a lot faster. However, the company could have offered a FHD+ panel as well. But, we cannot complain much as this is still a noticeable upgrade from Realme 6i. The screen is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass for protection.

In terms of design, the phone features a plastic back with stylish mirror design, a combination of matte and glossy finish at the back. There is a hole-punch cutout at the front housing the camera lens. The phone comes in two color options, Aurora Green & Polar Blue.

Camera

There is an upgrade in the camera department as well. We get a quad camera setup with 64MP, f/1.8 primary sensor (48MP on 6i), 8MP ultra-wide lens with 119 degrees FOV, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensor. For selfie, there is a 16MP shooter with f/2.1 aperture, Sony IMX471 sensor. The use of Sony sensor should give you much better selfies. With Realme’s color saturation, the phone will attract selfie lovers for sure. The camera has interesting features like portrait mode, time lapse, panoramic view, beauty mode, etc.

Performance

As for performance, we get Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, which is an 11nm based processor. This is an octa-core CPU with 4×2.0 GHz Kryo 260 Gold & 4×1.8 GHz Kryo 260 Silver cores. Adreno 610 handles the graphics for the phone. For gamers, this is a downgrade from Helio G80 on Realme 6i, as that was truly gaming focused chip-set. But, with more efficient architecture, Snapdragon 662 can handle all the apps and games you throw at it. However, you have to run the most high end games like PUBG at medium settings only for better experience. In terms of areas other than gaming, the SD 662 should do just fine.

We get 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB faster UFS 2.1 storage, as compared to eMMC 5.1 on 6i. It’s nice to see companies shifting towards UFS storage to maximize the performance on the device.

Other Features

In terms of battery, there is a large 5000mAh battery, which should get you going all day long. The device supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C port. The fingerprint sensor is located at the back of Realme 7i. The phone runs on Android 10 with Realme UI on top.

Realme 7 Pro Overview

Realme 7 Pro is not a huge upgrade over already market-leading performer, Realme 6 Pro. In some ways, it is inferior to it’s predecessor. So, let’s take a look at the areas the phone excels.

Build & Display

realme 7 pro price in nepal

The design is a downgrade as it features a plastic back as compared to glass back on 6 Pro. However, the mirror finish & split design looks very attractive on the back. The front of the device features a hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera. Realme 7 Pro come in two color options, Mirror Blue and Mirror Silver.

Talking about the display, the device features a smaller 6.4″ FHD+ Super AMOLED panel with regular 60Hz refresh rate. Personally, I would have loved to get a 90Hz refresh rate with AMOLED display. But, that will cost a lot for company to manufacture the phone. After all, some prefer regular AMOLED screen over LCD with higher refresh rate. So, it all comes down to personal preference. This is a bright display with decent color contrast and deep blacks. It is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass 3+ as compared to Gorilla Glass 5 on Realme 6 Pro.

Camera

Camera department hasn’t changed much, except for the sensor company chosen. It’s the same quad camera setup with 64MP+8MP+2MP+2MP combination. Primary 64MP lens is f/1.8 Sony IMX682 sensor as compared to Samsung GW1 on 6 Pro. Other lenses are 8MP, f/2.3 ultra-wide sensor, 2MP black & white lens with 2MP macro camera. Sadly, we miss the 12MP telephoto lens from the 6 Pro model. The device can record 4K at 30FPS as well.

For selfie shooter, there is a 32MP, f/2.5 sensor at front that can shoot videos at 1080p 120FPS as well.

Performance

Unfortunately, we don’t get any upgrade on the CPU as well. Powering up the phone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G built on 8nm process. It’s very efficient, meaning less power consumption and it is better in terms of battery life in comparison to MediaTek Helio G90T. The performance is similar as compared to Realme 6 Pro. This is an octa-core processor with 2×2.3 GHz Kryo 465 Gold & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 465 Silver architecture. There is Adreno 618 to handle graphics part for the phone. So, gaming or running apps is piece of cake for the phone. You can run most of the high-end games on the phone without any worry.

The phone sports 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. So, multitasking and sailing through apps should be no worries here.

Other Features

The most highlighting feature of the phone is it’s 65W Super Dart charging support. Realme says they could achieve this in a fairly large 4500mAh battery through splitting the battery, meaning two batteries are charged inside the phone to achieve this feature. Company claims that it can charge the phone up to 50% in just 12 min and 100% in 34 min, which is insanely fast. If you run out of battery, you can charge the phone, get a coffee and you get 50% of charge on your phone. How cool is that!

The fingerprint scanner on the phone is situated under the display (optical scanner). Realme 7 Pro supports Bluetooth 5.1, A-GPS and USB OTG as well. The phone runs on Android 10 based on Realme UI. It has water repellent coating to protect it against water droplets and dust particles. The phone supports stereo speakers and Dolby Atmos for great multimedia experience.
