After leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally launched much awaited versions of their Note 9 series: Redmi Note 9 5G, Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G and a bonus Note 9 4G. They seem incredible value for money at the price they are launched in China. From powerful CPU to improved display technology, the phones are very compelling if they come at correct pricing here in Nepal. So, without further ado, let’s dive right into the quick overview with expected pricing in Nepal.
Redmi Note 9 Pro 5G Overview
Design
The design of new Note 9 Pro offers pretty similar looking aesthetics to Redmi K30 Pro and Ultra. We get glass on the front and back as usual. Gradient finish on the back is eye-catchy and looks impressive as well. There is a hole punch cutout at the top center of the phone for selfie camera.
Display
One of the biggest upgrades in this latest version is it’s higher refresh rate display, double to be precise. There is a 6.67 inches 120Hz IPS LCD FHD+ display with HDR10 support. The features are very rare in the phone of this price segment. It is covered by tough Corning Gorilla Glass 5 as well.
Performance
As the name suggests, the phone comes with latest budget 5G chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G. This is a good upgrade in terms of connectivity and overall performance as compared to 720G on previous versions. This is an 8nm based chipset with Octa-core (2×2.2 GHz Kryo 570 & 6×1.8 GHz Kryo 570) configuration. Coupled with Adreno 619 GPU, the phone can handle pretty much anything you throw at it. We get 6GB/8GB RAM variants with 128GB/256GB UFS 2.2 storage options.
Camera
For the first time, we now get to see 108MP sensor on the Note series from Xiaomi. We have quad camera setup on the device on the circular cutout at the back. This contains 108MP, f/1.8 Samsung HM2 primary sensor, 8MP, f/2.2 ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro and 2MP depth sensors. The inclusion of OIS would have been cherry on top, but that just would be too much asking from a budget device. You can record 4K at 30fps from the device as well.
For selfies, there is a 16MP single camera unit at the hole-punch notch at the front.
Other Features
The device is the cheapest 5G phone from the company till now. To power 5G, we get 4820mAh battery with 33W wired fast charging support. New Redmi Note 9 Pro is also one of the cheapest phones to provide IP53 water and dust resistance. As for speakers, the phone sports stereo speaker setup.
