With the introduction of TWS (True Wireless Stereo) technology, the market of TWS earbuds have skyrocketed and every major smartphone company is trying their best to leave a mark amongst the consumers. Xiaomi is no exception. Its Redmi Airdots from last year was very popular among budget-conscious buyers.
And just today, Xiaomi Nepal has launched the Redmi Earbuds S at a reasonable price.
Redmi Earbuds S
Redmi Earbuds S also known as Redmi Airdots S is a slightly upgraded version of last year’s Redmi Airdots. Let us see what it brings to the table.
Redmi Earbuds S has a similar design to its predecessor as seen in the picture. In short, it fits right into your ear, with no strings attached. The 3 different sized silicone tips provided will help you get the right fit along with some passive noise isolation. The case also remains compact and pocketable. The earbuds are lightweight at just 4.1 grams per earbud. Each earbud still has a large multi-functional physical button spanning nearly the entire width of the earbud instead of touch controls which is a hassle, at least for me. The buds are rated IPX4 for sweat and water-resistance meaning you can take them for a sweaty workout or a slight drizzle won’t damage them.
Redmi Earbuds S has Bluetooth 5.0 with both mono (use only one earbud at a time) and stereo (use both earbuds together) support and an improved chip for better data transfer. Though the 7.2mm sound drivers with DSP intelligent technology for ANC/ENC (Ambient/Environment Noise Cancellation) remain the same as seen in its predecessor, the major upgrade is the low latency gaming mode (up to 122ms as claimed by the company). It helps to sync the audio and video much better than before and can easily be activated via double-clicking the earbuds’ physical button.

Each earbud has a 43mAh battery that will last up to 4 hours on a single full charge while the 300mAh case can extend this time up to 12 hours. The case or an earbud can be charged from 0 to 100 in around 2 hours as claimed by the company. The case has a micro-USB port for charging.
