With Xiaomi launching great phones one by one quickly, it is becoming difficult to choose among a variety of budget devices, in a positive way. This time, Redmi has launched Redmi 9C, an improved version of already great Redmi 9A. Redmi 9C has a compelling price in Nepal itself and features to compete with their own devices and some other companies, like Realme. Let’s find out more about the recently launched Redmi 9C in this review.
Redmi 9C Overview:
Build & Display
Redmi 9C shares a similar build and design as Redmi 9A in many ways. It has got plastic back with plastic frames, which feels cheap. But this is an entry-level smartphone and we will be totally fine with that. The screen of the phone is 6.53 inches HD+ IPS LCD panel with 720 x 1600 pixels resolution. It comes in a 20:9 aspect ratio. The display is the same as Redmi 9A, so no changes here.
Performance
In terms of performance, there is an upgraded chip-set from the company. The phone is powered by slightly faster MediaTek Helio G35 SoC which is an octa-core (4×2.3 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53) CPU. This is a budget gaming-focused processor coupled with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. So, we can expect decent performance from the device for the price.
Camera
There is an improvement in the camera department. A square camera module on the back holds a triple camera setup with an LED flash, as compared to a single camera on Redmi 9A. The triple camera setup has 13MP primary sensor, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera is capable of HDR and 1080p videos at 30fps. In terms of the selfie, there is a single 5MP camera that sits on a dot-drop notch up at the front of the phone.
Battery and Others
The company has provided a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as an improvement over 9A. The phone comes in two variants, 2GB/32GB and 3GB/64GB RAM/ROM configurations. RAM on the phone is LPDDR4X which is a good choice from the company. So, we can expect the phone to be fast in opening apps and multitasking. Redmi 9C comes with a large 5000mAh battery which should last a day with medium usage. But, charging the phone can take some time considering 10W micro-USB charger supported. Along with that, the phone comes with Android 10 out of the box with MIUI 12.
