Realme C17 Overview
Display
The ultimate selling point of the device is its high refresh rate display. It has 6.5 inches HD+ IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. This is the highest you can get on a smartphone at the price currently. But, with only HD+ resolution, Realme is really trying to convince the customers that a higher refresh rate screen is a must in 2020. This trend may not be a success as we would have easily chosen an AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution over an IPS LCD display with lower resolution and higher refresh rate. But, at the end of the day, it all goes to personal preference. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass as well for protection.
Camera
The camera on the phone is quad camera setup with 13MP+8MP+2MP+2MP combination. The 13MP sensor is primary lens with f/2.2 aperture. The 8MP sensor is an ultra-wide lens with 119˚ field of view, other two sensors being implemented for macro shots and depth sensing. The primary lens is not so high resolution, but it all comes down to software optimizations for clicking best looking photos and videos. So, we will have to test out the camera to find out the quality it can deliver. The front facing camera is present on a hole punch cutout, which is an 8MP sensor. It can record videos at 1080p at 30FPS.
Performance
On the performance side, the phone is powered by latest budget SoC from Qualcomm, named as Qualcomm Snapdragon 460. It is build on 11nm process, which should be efficient and not hit battery life much. It is an octa-core (4×1.8 GHz Kryo 240 & 4×1.6 GHz Kryo 240) processor which should perform significantly better than Snapdragon 439 in many ways. Along with Adreno 610, it should handle day-to-day tasks seamlessly. The most exciting feature for me is the use of UFS 2.1 storage, which is faster and more advanced than eMMC 5.1. It should make accessing the files, apps and overall performance fast.
Other features
The phone comes with Android 10 out of the box. There is a 5000mAh battery juicing up the phone with 18W USB Type-C support. There is a physical fingerprint sensor on the back for unlocking the phone faster. Realme C17 comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage with support for expandable storage.
