After about one and a half months later of India’s launch, Realme Nepal has launched Realme 8 in Nepal. The phone sports great performance and good battery life. But what about its display and software? Can we consider it a true successor to Realme 7 which was priced much higher than expected? Let’s find out in this overview of Realme 8 with full specifications, price in Nepal, and availability.
Overview
Design & Display
The back cover has two tone back with a massive “Dare To Leap”, which the company calls “Infinite Bold Design”. Yeah, that is definitely infinitely bold and to be considered branding. The stipe containing the text has rainbow-effect on various angles. The front of the phone looks same as the predecessor that has a corner hole-punch cutout for selfie camera. Realme 8 is light weighing just 177 grams and 7.99mm thick.
In terms of display, the successor has a 6.4″ Super AMOLED display with just a 60Hz refresh rate. Considering the price of Realme 7 which was way high for a 90Hz IPS LCD display, I will take Realme 8 any day for its price. The display has the same 180Hz touch sampling rate though, which is nice. Being AMOLED, the display can get very bright with 1000nits brightness. Another perk of having an AMOLED display is that the company can include an in-display fingerprint scanner. However, it would have been better if there was at least a 90Hz AMOLED panel considering the market competition nowadays.
Camera & Performance
The primary sensor consists of a 64MP lens. But, looks like it doesn’t have any Sony sensor on the primary camera, which was present on Realme 7. Other cameras include 8MP, FOV 119° ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro, and 2MP B&W sensor. The back camera module supports UIS Max Video Stabilization mode to stable your videos. You can record 4K at 30fps from the device too. For selfies, there is a 16MP, f/2.45 Sony IMX471 sensor, which also supports UIS video stabilization.
The device flaunts MediaTek Helio G95 CPU, which is exactly the same as Realme 7. It is an octa-core processor with 2×2.05 GHz Cortex-A76 & 6×2.0 GHz Cortex-A55 cores configuration. The performance and especially, the gaming on it should be smooth due to its powerful Cortex-A76 cores. The phone comes in 4GB/6GB/8GB LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB UFS 2.1 storage option, and not UFS 2.2 or 3.1.
Other Features
The phone features 5000mAh with 30W Dart-Charge support. It can charge your phone fully in 65 minutes. You can use two sim cards and a micro-SD card at once in the phone. There is 3.5mm headphone jack port on it as well. In terms of software, it runs on realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11.
