Along with Oppo F17 Pro, Oppo has launched two variants of Oppo Watch in Nepal on 28th September; 41mm and 46mm variants. We know the company for launching smartphones and wireless earphones. But this time, Oppo has decided to broaden its marketplace by launching premium wearables. They almost look similar to the Apple Watch series, but at a lower price. So, let’s take a look at what they have to offer for a premium price in the Nepalese market.
Oppo Watch Overview
The design of the watches looks similar to the Apple watch series. The hefty look and feel of the design are well complemented by it’s 6000-series aluminum frame. The 41mm model features a plastic back whereas the 46mm model is attached with ceramic material. For straps, Oppo used a flexible silicon strap out of the box, which is called flurorubber strap. Without replacement straps of different colors as of now, you may get bored with the only color option. But, we will see first-party or third-party companies offering straps with various materials and colors soon. There are two buttons on the side, one of which is programmable having green accent.
Display
We all agree that one of the x-factors for any wearable is its display. It determines the quality that the company is offering. The display used in Oppo Watch is AMOLED flexible Dual-Curved display (46mm) and flat AMOLED screen (41mm). The display used here is bright with good viewing angles. Either indoors or outdoors, brightness should not be a problem for the Watch. The screen size is 1.91″ (46mm) and 1.6″ (41mm) with 326 PPI and 301 PPI respectively, which is quite large for smartwatches. Covering the display is Schott Glass (46mm) and Corning Gorilla Glass (41mm). So, for premium price, we are getting premium materials for sure.
Performance
The watches are powered by two chip-sets in a single device. The Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 for Smart Mode or regular mode and Ambiq Micro Apollo 3 low-power SoC for power-saving mode. Yes, it is not the latest Snapdragon Wear 4100 but 3100 CPU should do good with ample RAM available. Talking about RAM, there is 1GB of RAM with 8GB internal storage, which should be enough with default fitness apps installed. The OS used in Oppo Watch is the Android Wear OS. We can even access Google Play Store and install any fitness app easily.
Features
You can do all the basic stuffs like heart rate monitoring, sleep tracking, track your runs, swims, bike rides, walks, and other activities as well. The GPS on the device works well to give your accurate location to track your walk or run. If you love swimming, Oppo Watch comes with 5ATM/3ATM water resistance depending on model. But, if you are really into scuba diving or hot shower, then the device doesn’t do so good in terms of water resistance. So, you might wanna keep it away while doing them.
The watches have 430 mAh (46mm) and 300 mAh (41mm) battery, which lasts all day and a part of next if you use all the features. The company claims that it should get you going for 21 days in power saving mode, which is insane for a smartwatch. In addition, NFC is implemented for easy payment of your bills. Oppo watch comes with in-built speakers and an e-sim as well.
