Oppo F17 Pro Goes Official In Nepal: Stunning To Look at But Average Performance

Oppo has been launching smartphones in the Nepalese market for quite a long time now. With modern style and camera-centric hardware, the F series got quite a good response, especially from youths in Nepal. Continuing the lineup, Oppo launched Oppo F17 Pro in Nepal with some eye-catching design and camera implementation. Is it really an upgrade over previous generations? Oppo F17 Pro Overview

Oppo F17 pro is targeted towards youth audience like it’s previous generations. The device sports an ultra-sleek body with 7.48 mm thickness. The back of the phone offers shiny matte finish reflecting streaks of light, with anti-fingerprint design.

Display

The front of the device features a dual punch hole cutout design, which looks modern. Display used here is a 6.43″ FHD+ Super AMOLED technology with 90.9% screen-to-body ratio, which is impressive. Unfortunately, it is a regular 60Hz screen without any higher refresh rate technology. It is really disappointing considering the fact that the phones at much lower price point are offering at least 90Hz panel. There is a fingerprint scanner located under display for security as well.

Camera

Oppo F17 Pro packs a quad camera setup on the back. The 48MP+8MP+2MP+2MP camera combination works well under good lighting conditions. The primary 48MP Samsung GM1ST, f/1.8 sensor is accompanied with 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP and 2MP lenses are mono sensors. The rear camera can even shoot videos at 4K 30FPS and 1080P at upto 120FPS. The front facing camera for selfie is dual camera setup with 16MP, f/2.2 and 2MP depth sensor for portrait selfie. So, Oppo F17 Pro boasts quite compelling camera hardware for photos and videography.

Performance

For performance, the phone comes with MediaTek Helio P95, which is a below average processor in terms of price. This has always been a trend with F series, so it was expected. It is an octa-core CPU with Cortex-A75 cores. With inclusion of UFS 2.1 storage, the phone can perform fast in terms of day-to-day usage. But, gaming is not a piece of cake for the phone as it will definitely struggle with some graphics intensive games and apps. There is PowerVR GM9446 GPU for graphics handling. Company has implemented Anti-lagging algorithm for smooth performance, but without testing, we cannot tell whether it’s just a gimmick or not.

Other Features

There is a 4015mAh battery, which is small by today’s standards. We have seen phones with as large as 6000mAh battery, but Oppo has decided not to include it in Oppo F17 Pro. With small battery and 30 watt VOOC 4.0 charging technology, the device should be charged in no time (53 mins as advertised). Other feature include air gestures for picking up calls without touching the phone. The phone comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be expanded upto 512GB via microSD card.
