Not so long ago, lava, an almost dead name as a smartphone manufacturing company, tried to make a strong comeback before getting lost into the oblivion. Since the mid-range and flagship segments are hard to win in the market, it made an attempt to win the market with an entry-level segment with the new Benco series: Lava Benco V7. Contrary to their expectations, the Benco V8 didn’t do well in the market, yet it certainly made an impact on users.
Clinging on to the hope of usurping the big names on the entry-level segment of the smartphones, lava has made a new addition to the Benco series: Lava Benco V7. So let’s have a look to find out if it has the potential to win the entry-level market in Nepal.
Lava Benco V7: Overview
Featuring a 6.1-inch IPS LCD panel at HD resolution with a dewdrop notch, V7 has smooth curves and a 3D diamond finish. It is as fancy as you could get for a body design within the price range.
The CPU, Quad-core Unisoc SC9832, seems to be terribly outdated. Since the processor goes back 3 years back in time, it is reasonable to be skeptical about its performance. And the fact that it runs on top of Android 9 would probably add up to the doubts of users.

It has a 5MP front camera and for the rear camera, it is a single lens of 8MP. Beauty mode is available on both front and back cameras. And it happens to have the bokeh mode available on the front camera, so it couldn’t be that terrible. It also has a quick capture mode, which you can use to capture instant photos even when the screen is off. The front camera also assists the face-unlock system claimed to be fast as 0.4s by the company

Though the phone seems pretty mediocre for the price range, I have some serious doubts about the performance. If you want a secondary phone just for receiving the calls, texting people and playing music, it’s NASA to you.
